Luke 5:6 " ... and they caught so many fish, that their nets were breaking ... "
The money fish ... ol' bucket mouth, bigmouth, black bass, yes - it's the Largemouth Bass! Perhaps the most sought after freshwater fish in the nation, especially in tournaments, the Largemouth Bass has got to be the national fish much like the eagle is the national bird.
The methods of catching bass number into the hundreds!
Pre-spawn bass in March-May can be a testing process of using finesse slow-motion baits like Mizmo wacky worms to Provider shaky heads to the old bobber and crappie jig just to name a few.
Spawning bass can be stubborn as they nudge your bait away or vicious as they kill your lure. Sight fishing often times means you can see them but they can see you too! Trying to mimic a bluegill stealing eggs is a treat that can be rewarding.
Post-spawn bass could be anything from downed trees to lily pads to scum to the shadows of an undercut bank. Lures are varied also from top to bottom of the scale. Old favorites like pop-r's, topwater spoons, frogs, floating worms and buzzbaits can rip open the surface feeders. Flukes, jerk baits, shallow running crankbaits, spinner baits and swim jigs will bring fish from being suspended to fish in the net. Jigs, tubes, worms, blade baits, drop shotting, Carolina rigging and way too many more methods will get 'em off the bottom or from under cover.
